Darren Reisberg

Darren Reisberg is the Vice Chancellor for Operations and the Campus Network at Vanderbilt University. His portfolio includes: operational units such as Vanderbilt University Public Safety, Campus Dining and other Auxiliary Services, and the Office of Equal Access (e.g., Title IX); strategic initiatives and stewardship of university principles, such as with Dialogue Vanderbilt – the University’s effort to demonstrate in practice its values of free expression and civil discourse; and oversight of the planning and operations for the Vanderbilt’s Campus Network, including New York City, San Francisco, West Palm Beach and the Quantum Campus in Chattanooga.


Darren arrived at Vanderbilt in January 2024 as Senior Counselor to Chancellor Diermeier. Immediately prior, he served as president of Hartwick College, a four-year, private liberal arts institution in Oneonta, New York. Before his tenure at Hartwick, Darren was vice president for strategic initiatives and deputy provost at the University of Chicago, where he stewarded the university’s values of free expression and open discourse, managed operations for the Office of the Provost, oversaw a range of institutes and centers, and led strategic planning and fundraising efforts.


From 2019 to 2022, Darren was the governor-appointed chair of the Illinois State Board of Education, which directs K-12 policy for the over 850 school districts in the state, including the Chicago Public Schools.


Darren received his undergraduate degree from Duke University and his law degree from Yale Law School.
