Mara Jill Herman

Mara Jill Herman is a Jewish artist dedicated to making art for social change. Benefit concerts conceived, directed, and produced include RUTH SENT US, CHANGEMAKERS, and STRONGER THAN HATE. As a soloist, she appeared at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, 54 Below, and with the Orchestra Japan tour of DISNEY ON CLASSIC (Festival Hall, Theatre Orb, Suntory Hall). Favorite productions: RENT (Maureen), BABY (Lizzie), ALL SHOOK UP (Miss Sandra), ON THE TOWN (Hildy), LOVE’S LABOUR’S LOST (Maria), and GUYS AND DOLLS (Adelaide). Mara is featured on the 2022 concept album HOW TO REPAIR A MECHANICAL HEART (Kathy). National/International tours include JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR and BOB MACKIE’S BROADWAY. She received NYFA’s City Artist Corps Grant and YoungArts’ Creative Grant for generating original work. Mara was featured on CBS Mornings with the Queens Theatre Senior Ensemble for Storytelling and Devised Theatre work. Currently, Mara is a Teaching Artist for City Center and New York Theatre Workshop. She sang “Zog nit keyn mol” at the dedication of Temple Judea of Manhasset’s Holocaust Resource Center and is honored to revisit this piece in WE ARE HERE. www.MaraJillHerman.com  @marajillherman
